Agnes Ku, RPT

Having herself once been an injured judo practitioner and also having recovered from a concussion and various soft tissue injuries caused by a car accident, Agnes has amassed a great deal of empathy and compassion for other patients struggling with injuries. She has helped patients with a variety of areas of concern, including low back pain from sedentary work, hip pain from K-pop dancing, knee pain from marathon running, and incontinence and pelvic pain from pregnancy and the subsequent postpartum period.

Agnes has cultivated her philosophy of care through more than 10 years of working experience. She employs a holistic approach that combines both Western and Eastern points of view. She utilizes a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture, Gunn IMS dry needling, myofascial/craniosacral/visceral release, breathing techniques, pelvic floor control, motor pattern training, taping, and therapeutic exercises to restore her patients to optimal functionality.

In regards to education, Agnes obtained her first bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (BScKin) along with a Certificate in Health and Fitness Studies. Her past professional work experiences include Curtin University Physiotherapy Clinic in Australia, various clinics in Hong Kong, and acupuncture services in China. Agnes also served as a physiotherapist during the Beijing Summer Olympics in 2008 and was recruited to be part of the medical team.

Agnes earned her Physiotherapy degree, a BScPT(Hons), and graduated with high honours. Her placement on the Dean’s Honours List recognized both her exceptional academic and non-academic performances in the Faculty of Heath & Social Sciences. She was also a recipient of the Outstanding Academic Achievement award for three consecutive years, the All-round Outstanding Student award, and numerous scholarships.

Outside of work, Agnes enjoys travelling with friends and family. She loved every moment she spent hiking Dead Woman’s Pass at an altitude of 4215 m (13,828 ft) on a trip to Machu Picchu. She has wonderful memories of backpacking for 17 days in Japan with her father, watching the sunrise after hiking to the top of Mt. Kinabalu in Malaysia, and spending a whole day immersed in paintings at Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum. She is looking forward to soon visiting friends living in Cape Town, Africa.
